GAME #3 RECAP AND THOUGHTS

Every year, or so it seems, you are gonna have one of these weeks.  All your hunches go the wrong way.  Your pickups don't pan out. Your opponent has a guy who just keeps on scoring and scoring and scoring.  Such is the case this past week, leading to the first defeat of the season, a 197-170 loss at the hands of Sean's Killin' and Grillin' crew.

The week actually started off handsomely.  Thursday night game between the Chiefs and the Eagles featured both of the TMP RBs.  And both of these guys went off.  Jamaal Charles went for 172 total yards with seven receptions and a score.  LeSean McCoy ran for 158 and a Td.  So heading into the weekend, good guys held a 85.5-13.5 advantage.  Then along came Sunday.

I really only had one decision to make in regards to my lineup for the week, that being whether to start Roddy White at Miami or Cecil Shorts at Seattle.  I was monitoring White's injury status all week, and all indications were that he was going to play, but may be limited as he's been all season so far.  All of the websites were saying sit him until he shows that he's fully healthy.  But I didn't want to be the guy who had him on my bench the week he does finally come up big.  Considering Shorts was playing in Seattle, the toughest environment to play in the league and against the top rated defense, I roll with Mr. White.  Wrong!!!  That simple decision cost TMP the game as White was completely worthless, catching two balls for 14 measly yards.  Meanwhile, Mr. Shorts comes up big in the blowout in Seattle, hauling in eight balls for 143 yards.  Simple math shows a difference of 33 fantasy points, meaning if Shorts was in the lineup, TMP wins the game 203-197.

Moral of the story - sometimes you can be to smart for your own good.  The crappy thing is that I had Shorts in my lineup all week heading into Sunday, but switched that morning thinking I could outsmart the fantasy Gods.  I am dumb.

Also, the stupid Bills, playing against what was an offensively-deficient Jets squad, gave up a whopping 513 total yards, amassing negative fantasy points in the process.  Streaming defenses seems easy, but you just never know in the NFL.  Never know!

Next up is Ron and the Cool Breeze bunch.  Good QB matchup for the week as Matt Ryan goes heads up with Tom Brady in the Sunday night game.  Odds are Shorts will be in my lineup this week, almost guaranteeing Roddy White has a career day.  Also, I might get Gronk back this week.  I will also probably keep him on my bench since he is in the late game and I have Jason Witten to fill in ably again.  Just hope that doesn't bite me in the ass as well.
