WEEK #5 PICKS AND ANALYSIS

Thursday Oct. 3
Browns -4.5 vs Bills

FINAL SCORE:  Browns 37 - Bills 24  LOSS/LOSS
This game was actually close until EJ Manuel went down with an injury in the 2nd half.  Browns are now 3-0 since they traded Trent Richardson.  Maybe they knew what they were doing afterall?

Sunday Oct. 6
Bears -0.5 vs Saints

In what amounts to a pickem' game, I'm going with the team getting the half point.  Plus I'm not picking against the Saints till they show me I should.  Team looks strong so far.  Some interesting trends also exist to say New Orleans is the choice.  Sean Payton is 5-1 ATS following a MNF blowout of 17+ points.  Jay Cutler is 30-52 ATS if you exclude MNF games.  And the Bears are 5-18 ATS after scoring 25+ points in two straight games.

Bengals -1.5 vs Patriots

I picked against Tom Brady as a road dog last week and got beat.  Not gonna do it a second time.  I consider the Falcons a better team than the Bengals.  If the Pats can goto Atlanta and pull off a win, seems logical to me that they can go into Cincy and do the same.  Pats win this one outright.

Packers -6.5 vs Lions

Green Bay has beaten Detroit in 14 of their last 15 meetings.  So the Pack is the easy straight up pick.  Mike McCarthy is 7-0 ATS coming off a bye.  So the Pack are also the easy ATS pick.  Winner, winner chicken dinner!

Titans +2.5 vs Chiefs

Not real confident about this pick, but I'm going Chiefs based solely on the fact that Jake Locker is out for the Titans and Ryan Fitzpatrick is in.  Having said that, I could easily see the Titans winning this game outright at home.

Colts +2.5 vs Seahawks

I'm going with Seattle simply because if they win, I win.  If they lose, I'm happy because that means the Colts won.  I could honestly see this game going either way.  Love the way the Colts have been playing since losing week two against the Dolphins.  Seattle could be the best team going right now.  Possible Super Bowl matchup???

Rams -11.5 vs Jaguars

Ok, I'm picking against the Jaguars straight up every week this season.  Having said that, the Rams are atrocious.  There is no way whatsoever that they should be a double-digit favorite against any team.  The last time they were a favorite by this many points was in the Super Bowl in 2002 against the Patriots.  This team is a far, far cry from that team.  Take the Jags and the points ATS.

Dolphins -2.5 vs Ravens

I like the Ravens in this spot.  I correctly predicted that Baltimore would be flat last week.  I think they bounce back here.  Plus, I think the Dolphins may actually be flat coming off their embarrassing loss to the Saints on MNF.  Miami is actually 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS coming off a loss on MNF.

Giants -2.5 vs Eagles

I have picked the Giants to win each week this season and they have made me look like an idiot.  So I will pick against them this week, which of course means they win this one outright.  I'm going Eagles because the road team in this matchup have won 8 of the last 12 meetings.  Also, Philly has won 8 of the last 10 between the two teams.  But I can almost guarantee the Giants end up winning just because I picked against them.  Just sayin'.

Cardinals +2.5 vs Panthers

It's no secret I have no love for Carolina.  Normally, I would go with the team coming off their bye week, but I'm not doing it here.  Ron Rivera is 0-2 ATS coming off the bye.  The Cards play well at home, especially as an underdog.  I have no idea why they are the dog in this one, but I'll gladly take the points and go Cards both ways.  Btw, Arizona is 19-8 ATS as a home dog of three or less.  They are also 15-9 SU as a home underdog.

Cowboys +7.5 vs Broncos

I'm treating the Broncos like the Saints.  I'm picking them both ways until they prove to me that I shouldn't.  Denver scores at will.  The Cowboys just gave up over 400 yards and three Tds to Philip Rivers last week.  What will Peyton Manning do?

49ers -6.5 vs Texans

I'm all in on the Niners this week.  How they are only favored by 6.5 is baffling to me.  The Texans just aren't that good.  And San Fran is at home coming off a week where they had extra days to prepare.  The Niners are 33-16 ATS in night games as favorites.  Houston is 4-16 SU as a road underdog of more than six points, including 0-6 their last six.  I really think this game will be lopsided.  Again, I'm all in on the Niners!

Raiders +4.5 vs Chargers

Playing a hunch here.  I'm thinking San Diego is a little flat in this game.  I know McFadden and Reece are out for Oakland, but Terrelle Pryor is back.  The Raiders have actually won four of the last six meetings between the two and are 6-2 ATS the past eight.  Oakland wins this game outright in a game that will finish near 3am Monday morning.

Falcons -9.5 vs Jets

The Falcons are the obvious pick straight up.  I don't really like the 9.5 points they are giving ATS.  I could see the Jets covering this spread.  But I'm taking the Falcons because they are the team in need of a win badly.  I see them really laying it to New York in this spot.  Mike Smith is actually 7-1 ATS after losing as a favorite.
